Shot put champion and two times World's Strongest Man. Used to love watching The World's Strongest Man in the 1980s. Geoff, Jón Páll Sigmarsson and Bill Kazmaier were the holy trinity of WSM competitors back in the 80's. Only one still alive is Kazmaier.

A mate of mine met him after the Braemar games, I believe that Geoff wasn't too shabby at caber tossing either. Apparently a lovely bloke all in all, gentle giant RIP.

A mate of mine met him after the Braemar games, I believe that Geoff wasn't too shabby at caber tossing either. Apparently a lovely bloke all in all, gentle giant RIP.

Yeah, I believe he took part in the Highland Games and I definitely remember caber tossing being in The World's Strongest Man, one year. He came across as a really lovely bloke and was a policeman in his younger days. He would have come in handy when the fights were braking out in the pub at closing time.
