I think the Lakeland love it or hate it situation is in the same camp as licorice, olives, coriander, lemons, and etc. Meaning there's a strong genetic component. If your taste receptors love it, you can't get enough; if they hate it, you'd rather have a root canal than eat the stuff.

Oh, right, fluoride. As the hip young memesters of the internet would say, "Laughs in well water" (though the dentists did have me on little grape flavored fluoride tablets for a couple years when I was a lad...)
