Drink? Yeah I wish. After insulting my ulcers for far too many years, my guts have called it a day. ?Chopper,
When you are infusing a rum, taste it everyday. It's surprisingly easy to overdo and end up with too strong an infusion. Although if you're planning to use on your homegrown, it may not matter as much as if you're making one to drink.
It's the start of Winter here in Oz actually.Around the campfire ... late fall in Australia.
Recently picked up a pipe, enjoying it along with a quiet Rum while keeping warm around a camp fire in the Australian bush.
Onya Sir John. Always good to see another Aussie joining the forums ? ? ??Recently picked up a pipe, enjoying it along with a quiet Rum while keeping warm around a camp fire in the Australian bush.
Love Black Cavendish [and Brown] especially when in the mood for a mild aromatic.Thanks. Black Cavendish, but keen to try some different styles..have some on order
Thanks for the tip Brendan! I got online last night and ordered the Luxury Nave Flake from Tobacco Blends...also got side tracked and ordered another pipe ?Welcome from Cowra
It’s funny, I haven’t had a rum in a couple of years ( ) and lately have fallen in love with it again.
I think it is the perfect pairing with my pipe now, not to mention
roughly 90% of my black tea’s since it’s getting colder.
Coincidentally I just got a pouch of Peter Stokkebye’s Luxury Navy Flake this morning and I’m in love with the pouch note, plenty of rum ?
If it’s any help I mostly purchase through Tobacco Blends in Melbourne, they always seem to get it to me in 2 days, most.
I suppose there is MyHumidor and Cigarworld online as well, usually they carry a good range but since Covid have very little at the moment.
Cheers,
Brendan.

Rum and pipe is a wonderful thing - I love Diplomatico, but have also taken a liking to the Bundy Reserve Small Batch lately. Dead mans fingers coffee rum is very hard to stop at 1 also. I recommend drinking from a normal wine glass to get the full aroma and flavour ?. I'm trying to stick to quality over quantity (also due to cost) but not always winning at that haha .
Cheers
Thanks again for the tip on LNF - have had several pipes and just cant get enough of it. I might need to buy quite a bit more of it if I'm going to keep some to age in a jar.Hey Sir John, no problems at all.
Sorry, late reply but I hope you have received your LNF in time this week to enjoy, actually got around to rubbing all my flakes out tonight; pretty moist stuff and I've had very little experience with flakes, so I figure I'll keep to the ready rubbed approach.
Hoping some jar time will unleash some extra flavour. I've had a couple flakes left out overnight in past couple of weeks and it hasn't dryed out too much at all.
Just read up on Diplomaticos Rum, I know what I'll buying next when my bottle of 6 year old/select vat Bundy rum runs dry

Another rum I can highly recommend is the Ron Zacapa - https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_355384/zacapa-centenario-23-solera-gran-reserva-rum-700ml
