GBD always made a great looking billiard but this shape #18 might be my favorite. As bad as this was upon arrival, the stampings and rhondelle were in good shape. I was able to save the hand cut stem without any fills by heating the dents and wet sanding. I didn't want to alter the proportions of this pipe by topping it so I worked with the beveled rim angle and reshaped the rim from the inside, and minimal disturbance to the outside height of the bowl.

Now not only are the restorations superb but you've added cinematography to the skill set. Great job and great presentation. An Oscar candidate in the making. Dutch

So very fine.
And when the video completed, there was an appealing woman in a clip called "Best Dutch Banned Sexiest Commercial" which I just had to watch. I wonder if the G-man above had anything to do with it showing up!
Again, great work and presentation, Dave.

I love these before/after restoration threads!
GBD really nailed the billiard shape with their #18; and you really nailed the rescue.

I think you used excellent judgement in repairing the rim. Maybe GBD should have used

the bevel in the original design.
Thanks so much for the really neat video!

Thanks guys. This shape #18 is a good example of GBD's subtle but elegant style. I fired it up last night for the first time and it's a keeper.

All the stampings including the Hand Cut on the stem are in great shape, but my iphone doesn't pick them up very well.

After cleaning off the cake, the rim had a flat outer edge and a inner bevel. I just extended the bevel outward to the edge of the rim. It was a nice original design I would've preferred to keep but it was pretty beat up.
