What is the history on gbd pipes? I know the old smoker heaven in Columbus Ohio was the main store back in the 60s and 70s. I have several of the old conquests and virgin naturals and the are great pipes. What happened to the company???

Pipedia is the best place to start when researching the history of anything pipe related. There is a wealth of info there.
When they merged with Cadogan (GBD & Comoy's), that was the beginning of the end. They revived once or twice. I'm not sure if they are still making GBD's. Pre-merger pipes are money, but not bringing much (money!) on Ebay lately, so great buys.
Jerry Hannah had the old GBD collector webpage, but he let it go 5-6 years ago. His shape info is still part of the pipepedia site. I've stayed in touch with Jerry. He's doing fine, but couldn't afford to maintain the website. I wish that I had bought/saved it.
They may be gone now, but last time I looked, the Iwan Ries half-price pipe sale (only selected inventory) included several GDB pipes for about $60, and they looked good. That would have been my purchase if I didn't already have a huge sufficiency of pipes.
