GBD Cutty from the 1880's

Technically speaking this is a French pipe, but since people now think of GBD as English, here we are. :lol:
The date was confirmed by Jacques Craen. 'Tis truly ancient (for a briar).
Double-cool: It was unsmoked when I got it six years ago. Back in the day, worker-numbered(?), postage-stamp-sized paper labels were put inside the bowls. This pipe's was still in there.
Bone screw; Orific button. Smokes spectacularly well.

That's always what I think when I find specimens like this, then a few months later suddenly decide that they were MADE to be smoked, and NOT doing so is the greater PipeWorld offense.
Rationalization? Maybe. :lol:

Wow, that's incredible, I agree with your reasoning on smoking it, just don't know that I could bring myself to do it. But after a long wait the old guy is finally fulfilling his purpose.
