Just noticed that this is available at mysmokingshop.co.uk

Never heard of it before and the only review I can find is a 1 star on the shop website. Doesn't sound like my cup of tea but it might interest somebody on here.

Gawith Hoggarth Island Gold Ready Rubbed Pipe Tobacco is a sumptuous blend of bright yellow and orange Virginia tobaccos with mixed flavourings of blackcurrant , cherry brandy, strawberry, banana and a hint of coconut

Sounds like a lovely tropical punch summertime blend! I'll pick up a tin if it lands in the US at some point, since all my experiences with Gawith aromatics have been pretty positive so far.puffy
The single review I could find: "Smells lovely but tastes vile with lots of bite"

The banana and strawberry flavouring is what puts me off. Doesn't sound like the sort of thing i'd like but you never can tell. I've got some of the Gawith 2022 Summer Reserve tobacco and that's supposed to be flavoured with Gin & tonic with a citrus overtone. I can't stand gin, even the smell makes me nauseous. The tobacco is really nice, though. To me it just has a fruity, sherbert flavour.

If anyone on here tries this Island Gold then please let us know what you think.

Seems there's a sister blend that's also just been released.

Gawith Hoggarth Island Mixture Ready Rubbed:

Gawith Hoggarth Island Mixture Pipe Tobacco is a well rounded blend of Indian and Malawi and bright Virginia tobaccos with a hint of Latakia.
Flavourings of blueberry and chocolate with a hint of rose and geranium.

Hi @gawithhoggarth hope all is well! 🤙

I’m just giving constructive criticism, in case in the future, when you are rethinking, doing different blends, especially if you wanted an actual Tropical Blend, I wanted to share with you.

I’ve lived in the Tropics my entire life, and besides Hawaii, I’ve lived and visited through Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. A lot of this too, I have been involved with tourism professionally, so I have a good understanding of many of these island’s cultures, history, lifestyles, food, etc..

Blackcurrant, cherry brandy, strawberry, blueberry, chocolate, rose and geranium, these are not tropical.

I noticed on My Smoking Shop UK it mentioned for theses descriptions;

A medium strength blend that evokes memories of open fire evenings on a tropical island.

Embrace this delightful and smooth blend with its symphony of flavours, let your mind wander to a beautiful tropical paradise.

These descriptions would not be true of tropical flavors, or visions of…

So I only wanted to share, that these are not correct representations of Tropical in case that is what you actually wanted to embrace, rather then melding tropical with other flavors.

There is an amazing amount of tropical fruits, and lesser known ones, that would be great to make blends from, that would still be all 100% natural tastes of the tropics.

Aloha 🤙 ❤️

 ........

And Cabbies probably don't smoke Cabbie's mixture, Golden Glow does not actually glow.....

Its a name.....we are very limited as to what word's we can use in names and descriptions.

Tobacconists often write their own descriptions and reviews.

It's a one off, fruity flavoured mixture. You cannot use the word Tropical in the name. We went with Island.

Cabbies are missing out, big time, if they don't smoke their namesake.

Island Gold.... a tin should be here today. Chances of me actually enjoying it are slim, but who knows? It might draw me in.
