Still relatively new to smoking pipe; 8 months in now but I'm fairly confident with my ability to taste and identify. I've narrowed down things I really enjoy and moved away from the stuff I don't reach for as often. That said, I really enjoy Gawith Hoggarth & Co. tobacco and there was a huge restock on smoking pipes.com today. Already sampled and enjoy Bob's Chocolate Flake, Best Brown No.2, Black Irish XXX Twist, Dark Plug, Kendal Dark Vintage and Kendal Black Cherry.

I ordered some Dark Flake Aro, and Ennerdale Mixture, both 4 oz to try. I'm never disappointed by GH so I'm excited to get these and give 'em a shot!

What are people's favorites from GH that I should target next? I already have the above plus some unopened Rum Flake, American Coffee Caramel, American Delight and North Star tins in the cellar...

I really like Brown Flake Aromatic, experiences have varied with the other floral blends I've tried. That's not a knock on the tobacco quality, it's just that I'm not always in the mood for burley/dark-fired base tobaccos once the topping has burned off.

If you've come this far with GH&Co tobaccos, you could throw a dart and have a good chance of enjoying what you get. :)

All those Virginia's taste the same to me. Sweet and Steamy. It's not a bad thing, more of a trademark or signature flavor. For me, I typically pick one that adds to that VA flavor in ways I like.. That being said, I smoke mostly the Sam Gawith blends so my words probably don't apply as heavy to the G&H bulks.

I'd say you got the king of the line with Dark Flake Aromatic, that stuff is unbelievably good. If you're sensitive to nicotine, I recommend taking it slow and smoking in a small bowl. Other than that Coniston Cut plug, Bosun, Mahogany, and Brown Flake Aromatic are all fantastic. I got my 3x 500gr boxes this morning so I'm good for awhile.

I like Rich Dark Honeydew, but that is something of a lakeland bomb. It starts off that way at least, but I find the lakeland burns off quite quickly and you're left with some lovely, savory virginia/burley. Like a two course meal but in reverse, with desert taken first. Louisiana Flake is also superb, unique in their line in that it's the only blend that contains perique, lovely stuff. They say Rum Flake is good for Xmas, although I have to say I never got that as I could never taste the rum, just a straight ahead, stout virginia burley.
