Anyone ever had it? I just ordered some from (to me) overseas. It's actually categorized as a snuff/chew. Strong, black, skinny rope. I figured it was not too different from smoking Cotton Boll, which is also a rope categorized as a chew. Not sure about the aniseed part, but thought I'd give it a try. From the few reviews I found on it, you pretty much just taste the tobacco.

I got my training on a different board and faithfully followed the advice from those I took to be seniors. One dictum was to only smoke natural tobacco. Now Warhorse was unnatural, but I was drawn to it given the manufacturer's writeup that it would be very strong and a plug. The latter was untrue, but I ended up smoking a few tins anyway. But this was an aberration.

So when I smoked rope I only smoked stayed the unflavored brown and black. To me the coconut, rum, etc., were not serious tobaccos, and if nothing else, I was a serious pipe smoker.

Don’t know if it has changed over the years, but to my taste, the coconut on the GH twist is not that noticeable, really. Smokes more like a straight VA than an aromatic. But I’ve only had about an ounce of it so far.

Man, didn’t you like Condor? I’m pretty sure we can all agree that Condor is flavored, some would say heavily flavored. I personally think flavoring pipe tobacco, if done properly, is a fine art and can totally enhance the tobacco flavors and enhance the experience, shunning all flavored tobaccos is quite silly... I am pretty sure you are being silly here, right? Even the native Americans flavored their tobacco with herbs and other spices, it must be true, I think I heard it on the Pipees Mag podcast... or was it the Country Squire? I dunno, one of those.

hawky, you're right, I did love Condor, but for the first 5-10 years, I wouldn't have considered it.

Yes, "flavoring pipe tobacco, if done properly, is a fine art and can totally enhance the tobacco flavors and enhance the experience, shunning all flavored tobaccos is quite silly." Yes I will admit to being silly.

Haha! Well pardner, you’re in good company! We are all silly around these parts.

“If done properly” is the key phrase. Don’t even get me started on blends like Molto Dolce (sorry for those of you who like that shit) but that stuff is ridiculous! That is not art, that is a hot wet goopy mess!

Sounds like Molto Dulce is more about the topping/casing than about the tobacco. I'm sure the manufacturer knows this but released it for those guys who like this. To me such a guy knows very little about growing or blending tobacco with a minimum of topping such as Pease released in "Union Square."

We pass a lot of hot air here, but hidden within it is a genuine love for tobacco and pipes. There are many guys who taken it to the next level, such as Cosmic, but I know enough to feel that I loved tobacco and pipes more than most else.

So if you feel that Molto Dulce is disgusting, start a thread in that name and we can fry it until its eyeballs pop out.

But the best solution to a thread that irritates me is one advocated by a mod: Ignore it.
