Their prices are high compared to what I'm used to paying for comparable bulk tobaccos online, but they are no higher than I am accustomed to paying at other B&Ms. The drawback is that, except for their house blends, their (very few) tinned blends are very overpriced compared to what you'll find elsewhere. But, as business owners, I can see why they do it. Bear in mind that the majority of their business is converting cigarette smoking tourists to pipes (that's been their mantra for decades now), and there's not a whole lot of new pipesters looking to buy a tin of Nightcap. Therefore, when a more experienced pipe smokers comes in and wants his favorite blend, he's going to pay tourist-trap prices for it if he really wants it bad enough or settle for a house blend, which is where I imagine they make their money. It doesn't bother me, I guess, because as someone from this area I'm used to merchants doing this, because I love the shop, and because I know what the overhead on this shop must be (in that particular mall, property is rented by the square inch rather than the square foot -- I know because my cousin was married to one of the developers). If it comes down to having a choice between having a B&M with slightly elevated prices versus a no B&M at all, I'm picking the first option every day of the week. Especially one that produces blends that have been among my favorites since I literally first picked up a briar back in '90! I'd pay twice what they charge for Smokies Smoke-Ease, for instance, because it's that unique.
