It's like when you smoke plum pudding, if it's not dry, it will be a real fireworks display. As Chasing Embers says, it's that gritty texture.

Haha i had to go find a video of it, I'm not saying i'm going to it, but i'm going to do it. Ok gravity fill seems to mean different things for different people, I like the tobacco in the palm of the hand and the pipe upside on it to till it.
I'm always happy to see others using a photo of me when I was younger for their profile pic.?

Gaslight has given me more burn trouble than pretty much any other tobacco in a 30+ year pipe smoking career. My technique is pretty well locked in for each tobacco type and honestly any bowl is essentially cruise control to the bottom these days. But Gaslight… Even fresh G&H flakes burn like pencil shavings compared to that stuff. I’ll have to try a true gravity fill next bowl, but I tend toward a firm pack with everything - that’ll take some getting used to.

Well, I rubbed it out - quite rough, let it sit around 1/2 an hour, packed it very lightly and seemed to smoke much better! The taste is definitely there. I think that maybe I was packing it too tight. It doesn't rub out that small. My next try with cake is going to be Temple Bar.
