I find Gaslight and Quiet Nights to sort of be two sides of the same coin. Gaslight is dense while Quiet Nights is broad. Gaslight is mysterious while Quiet Nights is gregarious. Gaslight seems to emphasize the oriental and latakia interplay while Quiet Nights emphasizes the broader range, including bright VAs. I like them both, but for my tastes, Gaslight works better.
This is strange because I love Blackpoint, which was the starting point for Quiet Nights. Quiet Nights was described when under development as Blackpoint Flake, and then it was going to be Nocturne, and then I think there was a dispute about it sharing a name, so it became Quiet Nights.
I don't agree that Quiet Nights is under-recognized. Whenever questions of Penzance substitutes come up, Quiet Nights is always mentioned. I think Lagonda and especially Meridian are the real quiet ones there. I've not had Lagonda, but Meridian is about the finest medium latakia mixture I can think of.
