All the talk about this plug made me curious and I picked up a tin. This being my first plug, I thoroughly enjoyed slicing and rubbing it out. I will slice it as I go, so I can enjoy the ritual. A friend who recently started smoking pipes to wean away fro cigs, enjoyed a bowl with me on my deck. We were both immediately impressed and smiled at each other with a knowing nod. I'm sure most folks here know what Gaslight takes like but wow.... It's like a dark chocolate steak with muted fruit sour undertone. I could ramble on but that was the main impression. Rich and satisfying but in a very accessible way; strong but not in an off putting way. I will definitely be smoking more of this blend.

Gaslight is honestly my favourite blend. I love the earthy smell, it's like walking through a peaty forest hours after the rain stops. I'm not sure why this is the image it conjures up in my head, but without fail it makes me think of the woods. I could go on about this blend for days!!!

Please pardon my proof reading, it will not let me edit at this point. I can't stop thinking about this blend, I already want another bowl. I don't think it would be an all day but a great treat at the right point.

To your point, daimyo, if you pack Gaslight too tightly it'll take you all day to get through a bowl. This stuff is terrific and I learned to pack it on the loose side and still get a 1 hour smoke from a bowl.

It can be a bit tricky to get the right pack but the last two bowls of it I had it went much easier when after slicing and rubbing out, let it sit on some paper for an hour or so. Packed on the loose side and it's smoked wonderfully.

I actually had no issues with staying lit, I think I had 2 relights for the whole bowl. It actually surprised me how easily it rubbed out. After that we loaded our pipes and let them sit while we finished making and had diner. I must have lucked out on the drying time. This has definitely inspired me to seek out some more heavy lat blends.

Gaslight is not working for me. I am trying to like it but just not doing the trick. I am finding that I am not thrilled with VA/PER.

I don't think Gaslight is a VA/PER. Gaslight seems to be Latakia heavy with VA and Orientals. Either way though, no tobacco can appeal to everyone so I certainly understand where you are coming from. Referencing today's mirrors article, sometimes it's most disappointing when a blend is wildly popular but doesn't work for you personally. Heightened expectations and all that.

Gaslight, Jack Knife, and Cumberland keep calling my name, but I have so many unopened tins....

Every now and then you get one of those blends that is just love at first puff. Gaslight is one of those. I was very excited when they started offering it in 8oz tins. Picked up one but plan on grabbing a few more to store away.

It warms my cold heart to see Gaslight still getting some love. ;) Thanks for the props, guys. You don't know how much it means to me to read these words!

It's my favorite too. While I don't smoke it all day, I do wait for that "special" bowl to enjoy my gaslight. I think it's the finest blend available. At least I have yet to have anything as good.

I concur with the two posts above and it is us, the Latakia slaves that should be rewarding the Master! Lol.

No doubt.
Much love for Gaslight here,

it quickly won my heart and climbed to the top as my fave Lat blend.
It has a glorious deep full body.
I'm somewhat sensitive to perique, but I find that the amount here works perfectly as an added enhancement, during the first part of the bowl it's more evident with a notable spiciness, but by midbowl somehow everything seems to become integrated into an awesome expansive taste, with the perique only dancing around the edges.
Hands down, the most satisfying Lat mixture I've yet to smoke,

for real.

For me, there isn't a better full latakia blend than Gaslight. I'm a Blackpoint fan for sure, and I like Westminster and others from the GLP line, but Gaslight is special.

I like Gaslight as well but I fell that Quiet Nights doesn´t get the attention it deserve. Gaslight is really good but Quiet Nights, that gentlemen is pure bliss!!
