Garden tomatoes are one of my favorite things in the world.
Yeah same here. All the tomatoes and peppers have been turning the past week so.
My tomatoes were sub par this year, but my peppers… wow. I’ve been roasting and peeling them every weekend and freezing them back for our winter chilis and roasts. Man, their good.
Spider mites have taken over. Used to get great harvests every year.
Nice? Living in the northeast, we look forward to them every year. We laugh at those ruse tomatoes in the grocery stores. They look like tomatoes, but they’re tasteless.
Sliced ripe tomatoes, a slice of fresh mozzarella and some crushed basil leaves on top, and a drizzle of Italian dressing. Heaven!
I love the same (a caprese salad), but with a drizzle of balsamic reduction (and fresh cracked pepper with a healthy sprinkle of sea salt).
If no fresh basil, I love a sliced tomato with sweet/vidalia onions salad (just tomato and onion, no lettuce), marinated in Italian dressing. Reminds me of summer meals growing up.
Great tomatoes, the kind which unfortunately hasn’t been obtainable for years even in places like Greece, are heaven on a plate with just a drizzle or of oil and pinch of salt.

Giada DeLaurentiis makes a nice Margherita pizza with fresh sliced tomatoes instead of canned crushed tomatoes. Nice!
Nice haul! This was a decent year for our tomato crops. The heirloom and cherry varieties outperformed other varieties I planted.
Those are gonna make some tasty sandwiches, they look great. My wife canned a bunch of tomatoes this weekend - diced for cooking, and salsa. Leftovers will also become tomato sandwiches!

Yeah, it would be sacrilege to have a garden in NJ and not have a bed of tomatoes in it. Peppers, herbs, lettuce and squash all did well this year. Cucumbers were ok, but not the best. Green beans were a bust but we have a fresh batch coming in now for hopefully an early fall harvest.
couple tobacco plants did well too, seemingly.
Our tomatoes are taking forever this year. Still all green. The zucchini however….

I pity the person who’s never had fresh garden tomatoes.
Looking good. My tomatoes which I planted from seed, three varieties, are struggling. Two I bought as plants are doing ok but the one producing the most, is a cherry variety which I hate. The skin/seed ration to pulp is intolerable to me.
I only eat home grown tomatoes.. the store bought ones are crap.
