C&D has had a relationship with an Italian farm and cigar manufacturer for many years from which it sources different grades (grades, as its used in tobacco, in the sense of having different characteristics) of Italian-grown DFK.

On the wider confusion around availability: yes, this was plucked out of LDG's Facebook page which communicates primarily to retailers around the US. It will be available much as any C&D Small Batch product is available, at stores that already stock G. L. Pease pipe tobacco (including, of course, Smokingpipes).

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize that it still had "Kentucky" in its title. And, it's good to know that this will be available to us mere mortals. I was wondering if I had to email you to get on this "exclusive" list, ha ha.

Same here I’ve already got my chair parked by the door to hold my spot in line.

All jokes aside, we really do have it good. If a limited release sounds like something I’d enjoy, I’ll grab a tin or two. If it doesn’t, I just skip it. No harm, no foul.

Coming from the bourbon craze, it’s a completely different world. In a liquor control state, getting anything “allocated” means entering raffles you’ll never win or camping outside a store on release day. With limited tobacco releases, we usually know exactly when and where a drop is happening online. No waking up at the crack of dawn, no long drives, no standing out in the cold, no entering raffles you have a 1% chance of winning and no expectation to spend thousands just for the chance to buy a couple of tins.

We really do have it good. And it’s great for the pipe tobacco producers too selling out quickly helps keep their business strong.

Now if it gets to the point we have to start entering raffles for a normal release - then we would have an issue.

It’s already been announced when the retail drop will be on smokingpipes.com.

This is a limited blend to celebrate GLP’s anniversary, and not a regular production blend. Not having to mind the drop time and then spending 15 minutes in queue purgatory would be great, but that’s the nature of a limited release. It sounds pretty interesting, and I’m gonna try to snag a tin or two. I’m not mad that I’ll have the opportunity.
