No, I should have. It wasnt ugly but nothing stood out. It wasnt so brown everything was hidden but it was pretty dull even when shined up. Im not a fan of hiding grain with darker stains. It also had a lof of very shallow surface damage....just little but still annoying. Calling them dings was a exageration.

I need to hit the edge of the stummel where it meets the stem again with a little stain. Buffing made it a little light at the edge. Im gonna make another photo too. I tried to correct but its still a little orange due to artificial light. Its hard making pipe photos!

@TheIronMonkey I guess it wasnt as dark as I described but it was dull even when polished and some of the grain just didnt pop. Also the micro scratches made it dull. I think it originally had a contrast stain as well. This is probably close to what it looked like long ago. Maybe a touch lighter. I got it back in 2008 and it was well used at that point.
