Here are the last batch of pipes. I used a bit of chemical magic to do the understain. First a quick bath in a strong tannin followed by a wipe with a solution of steel wool dissolved in white vinegar.

Cortez, for many years my blending was strictly of a liquid kind. Now with all my medications I can't do that , so I am playing with a bit of tobacco blending.

Unc, I once experimented with that staining method. Used strong tea to get my tannins,worked OK. Seems like I saw this on the pipe makers forum.They were getting some very nice colors. Been meaning to get some tannins and try it again-maybe someday....
