Pre-WW2 Loewe - $200

Not too often do you see Loewe with the circle Made in England COM, something which appears to designate export pipes for the American market. This COM, along with the stamping of the shape name on the bottom of the shank, as well as the shaping of the stem and button make me believe this pipe was made sometime between the later-20s and mid-30s. The pipe has an attractive shape, with some nice birdseye on display, and apart for the slight rim darkening the condition is otherwise excellent.

Pre-WW2 Haymarket (Loewe) - $200

As above, this pipe comes with a circle COM and I date to the pre-war era. Haymarket was supposedly a seconds line created by Loewe to distribute high grade pipes that for some reason didn’t met the standard – in this case, the guy responsible for QC that day was either half blind or the most meticulous worker in the factory, as I am left scratching my head as to why this pipe was down graded. I have priced this pipe the same as the first above, as it is a lovely shaped pipe and Haymarkets appear thin on the ground these days. You can tell this pipe has been smoked well, but also well looked after. Note, the rim darkening and shadows in the photos make the chamber appear very out of round, it is not.
