Recently someone gave me a sample of this blend and I tried it last night. It probably had a couple weeks of age on it. When I first opened the bag, the tin note was really strong. The family's response to a sniff was "Get that away from me!" The word pungent comes to mind. The tobacco is a mix of dark brown and black pieces. Some of the piecies seemed over large to me, not stems, but big. When I first lit the pipe, I reaction was that this is going to be strong. Then I had lots of trouble keeping it lit. After repacking the pipe, it got better. Perhaps one of the pieces lodged into the draft hole, causing a blockage. Perhaps the blend was too moist.
This is the point where I admit that I am too new to the pipe to detect the various aspects of this blend. The taste was strong and consistent all through the bowl. My wife graded the room note as OK, not as bad as some of the others I have tried. It reminded her of her grandfather who smoked cigars.
I was excited to try a blend that many on this forum enjoy. I want to experience many different types of tobacco. But when I buy tobacco next, it will be mostly aromatic blends. Perhaps after the blend and my tastes have a year or so to mature, I will enjoy this more.

I can't speak highly enough for the Virginia flakes I had while I was at home. Might be worth giving that a shot. I had the Orlik Golden Sliced (which is an amazing smoke for the price), and the 2011 Chrismas Cheer, which I had trouble keeping lit but when I did...lets just say I understand the hubbub about aged tobacco now.

I haven't tried that tin yet that I have at home, but soon! On the town is very good, and from what I hear, all the Frog Mortons are great.

I really enjoyed the mellow aspect of FMOB while still coming through with a hint of perique.

For me, it must be allowed to dry some. This type of cut needs to be packed loosely to start, firm it up as you go with your tamper.

No reservations at all when I say Good Blend!

"The only Frog I don't care for because of the Parique"
I second this thought from Anonymous. Perique isn't my cup of tea. Some people call it "spicy". I call it harsh.

FMOTT is really nice and I would recommend. Have not tried FMOTB. As a general matter I like Perique in the mix. May have to try it.

Like other Frog blends, this is kind of soggy (but what would one expect from an amphibian?). The Perique is just past discernible for me, it's a decent blend

I really like that blend. To me, that one and FMC are the ones I like the most in that series.

I don't know if others found the same, but Potlatch from SPC, to me, is a little similar.

A sweet English, that has both things I like in a blend, a smoky and sweet taste.
Really like it!

I've looked at the Frog Morton line and I'm stumped on which blend to try first. Especially with the 10% off sale at P&C right now

I've gone through the whole FM line and you can believe the hype, Cellar is the best by far. Bayou is second in my book. I don't get any real spice from it but the perique adds some sweetness to the blend. I like the original FM but it is on the dry/non sweet side to my taste buds.
