I have just read Gary Schrier's Confessions of a Pipeman and in it he states that he knows nobody that collects French Pipes, this made me think, I don't and have never heard of anybody collecting french pipes. This is strange being the France is the birth place of the Briar and was at one time the biggest pipe making country in the world. There must be some BBB collecters that collect French made BBB's, must be some Ropp collectors. Come on, own up, who collects French Pipes.

I don't collect anything. I do have a GBD Apple sitter with a saddle bit that I enjoy. Not a great pipe, but not a bad one, either. Smokes well.

Quite right withnail, not with the turbulent politics between our two country's at the moment, my great grandmother was French so I have some French Blood, and some Irish and probably more if I could bothered to do my family tree.

I currently have about 20 pipes in my collection. Italy, Ireland, Denmark and the USA are all well represented. I have one French pipe...a Ropp cherrywood that I've owned since the 1970s.

I think most of americans speak only english , and maybe a different version of it,so let the french speak what they like.French pipes are good pipes industrial like many all around the world.Danish and Italians follow different ways but their pipes usually cost more.About lighters i guess french pipes don't refuses americans.By the way is there some american made lighter?

Yes American :)

Never saw a Ronson Viking? Produced from about 1957 to 1968 was the first gas lighter on the market, then come the ronson varaflame. It's beautiful and has a nice particularitity. If you turn it down the flame become straight and enchance the flow. The first and only lighter made for cigarettes and pipes.I had one in late sixties but i lost it during fishing on a river. Some years ago i bought some of these and i made them refurbished

There was a pretty big French pipe collector in Los Angeles (he's now deceased) named Gordon Soladar. He had an obvious high estimation of French pipes. But I agree, no one else comes to mind.
