1880 pipes exist. They are really rare though. And they are hard to identify without a hallmark.I agree nickel. It didn’t “darken” my buffer wheel. I think 1890 is a good date as well do you think this is because of the style of pipe or if it was earlier it would look different?
The push stem makes me wonder if it’s as early as 1890. But there are English pipes collectors around that know better than me about tenon trends in UK pipes.
The Comoy history matters too. I am not real conversant with that.
I think it was a lower price option. Nickel plating was kind of hot back then. You got the nice luster without the fast tarnish.Agree faux. I wonder if it happened because it may be from an era where HC was transitioning countries?
