From what I have seen, this group of pipers really likes to spread the love around.

Just a heads up. I'm keeping tabs on this thread and taking note of who is in need of some help. I will only contact you when I have something ready that i can send out. Just be patient and wait your turn. I'm not saying no one is being impatient, but rather just want you guys to know that the pipes will make it to you eventually. This project isn't based on the number of posts you have but rather the needs that are out there. That being said, the forum isn't a charity, we are all about helping new smokers and want you guys to have a grand experience, but a part of that is becoming a part of the community. Sharing your two cents even if it isn't as experienced as some and asking questions. There are lots of guys that start an account post a couple of times and disappear. Don't be one of those.

After discussions with Dave (shaintiques), I'm going to help with the Free Pipe Project by looking after donations from and to folk in the UK and Europe. I think most members this side of the Atlantic will have read the thread(s) with interest and agreed it's a great idea, but will probably have passed over the Project because they think it's all in North America and it's too much trouble and cost for all involved for them to give or receive pipes. So let's change that!
I'm in England and will now help Dave by acting as hub for any UK/European members who would like to donate or receive pipes and tobacco. Rather than members shipping stuff to Dave in the USA to then be refreshed and sent out again, I can just ship from here to 'local' guys and girls. I'm very happy to clean up UK & European donations before they go out - I'm a dab hand at sterilising and cleaning! - but I don't have the correct power tools for resto's that require them, so I will forward those items to Dave in bulk; it will still be easier and cheaper for the guys this end.
Hopefully this system will make the Project even more successful by making it quicker, easier and less costly for the UK/European members to participate. I can also meet anyone in London or European cities I travel to with work and pass on and/or receive pipes and tobacco. Please PM ME TO TAKE PART!

This is such a wonderful thing and I am amazed that it is international even! I've never heard of anything like this before, so many kudos to all that are involved.

andy's already mailed me here in Texas his own cash money for postage to repay a non-wealthy guy that Secret Santa'd me twice a couple of years ago.

Well politicalmonster just gifted me a gallon of everclear, his contribution to the project, which is great because I was totally out and was using some of my personal bourbon.

Ok I just sent out a package to braumeister with a pile of tobacco and a couple of pipes from the FPP. He lives in Washington State and so has a hard time getting tobacco, so he and I worked out a deal to get him some samples. He also only had a couple of cobs so I sent him along a nice little Cherrywood from rsuninv and also an unsmoked mm Hardwood that someone else donated. So keep your eyes pealed for pics of him smoking these beauties. I have about 12 more pipes almost finished, so I will be contacting 6 of you very soon to get those out. I have a wedding this weekend, so look for a pm early next week.

Also pretty cool, one of the brothers in Mexico gets gouged on shipping from the US to there when ordering tobacco, so I volunteered to be his middle man and help him save on shipping. In response he is sending a few pipes our way for the project.

Nice one Dave - I was going to try to help Dot but we haven't got anyone going near his way for a while.

andy already paid me the postage for a couple of CARE packs that have gone out, sandoval paid postage for another (AND gave me a bottle of 12-year old scotch!), and any day now money from sparrowhawk will arrive down here for two boxes of baccy headed to shain to send out with his pipes. Really glad you got some Everclear so you don't have to use your own bourbon!

This is truly great! I have been contacted and now I can't wait. I'm like a lil kid waiting on Christmas to arrive. I am new to the pipe community but the peoples willingness to accept others with open arms is just unbelievable! I do not feel weird at all to ask what I think is a dumb question because you all have been where I am and you understand. I wish I would of picked up a pipe long ago but I am so glad I did and that I found a fourm with some of the best and understanding members in it. I get on here and I try and picture myself through your words and discription of your experiences with different tobaccos. I'm in the beginning stages so I can't taste the full flavor yet but I'll be there. Just wanted to thank you all!

@marine33: I'm glad you were contacted. I had my eyes on you for a CARE pack, but was waiting for you to post 30-40 times to make sure. Dave shaintiques has certainly made it easy - just send him the tobacco and pipes and he takes care of it. Thanks, Dave. marine, I expect to send my tobacco to shain today or tomorrow.

I'd be interested in trying different tobacco. Let me know what I need to do. This is an incredible idea, Shaintiques! If you need any help graphically etc, let me know. I'm a graphic designer and I wouldn't mind helping out any way I can and using my skills for the Free Pipe Project only makes sense. If you can think of anyway I can help, please don't hesitate to ask! :)

Received a nice package today from the free pipe project and will be takings a few pictures when I get a chance to sit down for a smoke. Special thanks to everyone involved in this and to everyone on the forum for being so supportive to new pipers and very helpful with all the questions. Thank you all.
