I learned more about meerschaum pipes from Fred Bass and his eloquent writings that the total of all other sources I've been exposed to.
Fred will be missed. The pipe smoking community has lost one of its most articulate voices.

With the recent passing of Fred Bass it reminded me of the passing of Jason the Meerschaum King. I know that many of Fred's pipes are up for bid on eBay currently. What a beautiful collection of pipes he had. Out of curiosity, does anyone know what happened to Jason's pipe collection? He had some amazing Meerschaum pipes just like Fred. If I could I would love to own a couple of pipes from each collection. I can only hope that I can color my meerschaum pipes like Jason and Fred did. Two valued members to the pipe community who's contributions will surely be missed.

Fred had a similar one which is up for bid currently, but its a bit rich for me. One can dream though.
