@reborn, as I have previously posted, the Warrior and McQuaid's Plugs both twang my Irish genes, in the best possible fashion !! LOL

A overly political comment which ignores the political sensitivities of a very emotive issue.

@james80, thanks. Which is pretty much what I said earlier, in plain English. I may be wrong, but it seemed the key purpose of reborn's topic was to inform forum members of some interesting new SG tobaccos on the horizon.

@roth - I'm native Irish and sometimes I wish I was Irish too!
@peck - stellar fada placement. I don't know if you have any Irish in you but if you don't then you put most of us to shame.
@reborn - Kudos for bringing the tobaccos to our attention. They look really interesting. As the Irish way is generally to agree to disagree and then go off grumbling in private, I think I'll do just that :P

In all seriousness guys, I was fully prepared to challenge reborn's retort, but I decided it would be best for all of our sakes not to go there. We all view the world through the prism of our own life experiences and cultural history. I am Irish Catholic and a citizen of the Republic of Ireland (and of Canada). My great Grandfather fought in the Irish War of Independence and that undoubtedly colours my own perspective on these issues.
I do hope though, that in spite of our differences, as fellow pipe smokers we could someday have a bowl together and have a reasoned debate, along with a pint or two, and still remain friends.
Sláinte mhait,
Peck

@peck, that is a great sentiment, and I am certain it is heartfelt. As an Irishman of Huguenot extraction I would wish to be among those who would share a bowl, and a dram, with you. IMO there are now no differences. Next month my daughter will marry a man who calls Londonderry "Derry", and so will I.

I prefer to live in the present rather than the past and accept things for what they are. I am proud to call myself Irish whilst having a passport for Ireland and a passport for the UK. Whichever passport I travel under, I am still Irish. I will have more in common with dryseason than any English, Scottish or Welsh man, even though we are probably geographically farther away originating from opposite corners of the island.
I am always happy to have a reasoned debate over a few pints and bowls, that is our way. We could maybe even introduce the subject of Western European Occupation of Inuit land. :D

<p>So long as they don't bring out shamrock shake or lucky charms flavoured tobacco I think we'll be ok!

Dragonslayer: I'd say you buying Irish Spring in bulk would greatly please your friends and neighbors! :nana:
