I have heard of Nording pipes but like you I'm not familiar with Bjarne. Evidently, Viking pipes are Bjarne seconds. (?)
Bjarne Nielsen had a number of different lines. The Handmade pipes were just that. Individually handmade and one of a kind. They were quite reasonable for a one-of-a-kind piece. I have a few of them, including one the Bjarne had made for me as a gift.

Bjarne Vikings are not a second, but they are mass-manufactured and available only in standard shapes and finishes, and the stems come from blanks rather than being hand cut.

Very Nice.

In my Avatar show another Bjarne "Handmade" which is one of my best pipes.

Another hit! At the same antique store for the same price, I found this Mr Andersen. Also stamped "Hand Carved in Denmark".
These pipes must have come from the same estate. It just took this one nine more months to show up!

Hangs very nice on you, great find I have a Bjarne Bulldog with a hand cut stem, that's what's on the stem, thought most of the Artisan pipes were hand cut, but what do I know, off the track, the Bjarne is a great smoker, bought it off Marty a good while back. Your finds are all appealing and Bravo to you.

I'm still marveling, six bucks a pipe. What would those be online as estate pipes, seventy, eighty?

Great score! I wish the the antique stores in my area would price pipes like that. Went to one a few weeks ago and they had a grabow for 30 dollars.

Some guys get all the luck...
Ha ha! Well, I'm lucky that I live so close to this particular antique store that I can drop in every week. It's been nine months since my last hit, so you have to give me a little credit for perseverance :)
Last week when I went there, I found what was labeled as a "silk scarf". It had a red border, with a white field and gold star in the middle. Price was five bucks. I recognized it right away as a service banner hung in the windows of families who had lost a son in the war. I assumed it was from WWII, but when we took it out of the plastic wrap and unfolded it, we could see somebody had written the soldier's name and unit in pencil on the back. It was from WWI!
So you never know what you might find at these places..... hopefully more pipes.
