It sure is good to have found the first pipe I ever bought.

I bought it at a local B&M. The pipe is a Brindisi and is just a basket pipe, but it has the sentimental honor of being my first. I went back a while later and bought a second, a poker. It is the one I am smoking in my profile.

I lost number one. Over a year ago and though I wasn't heartbroken I always wondered what could have happened.

Last night while cleaning out my golf bag I found it hiding deep in a pocket.

I am going to smoke it tonight and analyze with all my years of pipe knowledge  and see if it really is a decent smoker or not.

twangthang, what a find! Lots of good pipes get tossed in those baskets. It's a great test of the new

pipe smoker to see if he or she can fish a good one out from among the cheapies. You might be surprised

at what good instincts you had in the old days. My first pipe was a Tinder Box St. Ives, probably about

sixteen bucks, which was more back in 1978 or so. It's still a beauty and smokes great. In my case, I

think I got lucky, though I'll take credit for having a good eye for design even then. And Tinder Box was

a better than average source for a first pipe. They wanted to have happy pipe smokers who'd come back.
