I have some Penzance that’s been opened for a couple years now and it’s covered in crystals. I thought it was mold when I looked at it last.

It likely is. Ship it over to the complementary mold inspection service here at my house and it can be tested for mold. If it turns out it's fine, the remainder not used during the testing experiments shall be returned to you unharmed....but it's likely mold. It shall be disposed of as appropriately and quickly as possible. This is the end of your public service announcement.

At current rates with eleven years of age, that would make it $500/4 ounce jar.

Lovely pic!
I have a jar of pre-Butera Penzance ('96) hidden away somewhere in ye olde cellar.
Looks like I'll have to dig it out and give it a go. Here's wishing you many fine smokes of that finest mottled English flake!

More like sneaky mottled flake. I gave some friends a couple of pounds of Penzance a few years ago and thought that was the last of it, but these jars were hiding.

I wonder how big is that closet of yours since a few pounds of bacy can lay "hidden"

Hold up hold up. You're posted something relating to a tobacco that's NOT Black Frigate?! My world just got thrown into upheaval.

Not too big, but I do have over 200 pounds in there. Here's part of it.

See, I don't smoke enough to have a cellar of that size. A two ounce tin will last me two weeks or better. My entire cellar fits into one of those big Rubbermaid tubs, and in all honesty, one of those full of 2 ounce tins will probably last the rest of my life. If I open something and don't like it, I can always trade it off for something that I do like. Given the fact that I just took a 4 year sabbatical from smoking, plus the fact that I may just do that again, means that I'm sure I have enough to last me.

I really don't either, but over the past 30 years I've seen favorites get discontinued and I like to be prepared now. Not to mention I have a dresser full of tins.

Chasing Embers I did not expect that ... wow, I am simply stunned by the size of your cellar. Very very nice ! Should you stop buying tobacco how long do you think that your stash will last you?

With my rate of consumption, it should outlast me.
I'm guessing it'll be around in 2050, whether Duane or any of us is/are or not.
Considering my family's longevity, late 2030s will be about as long as I need it to last.
