Found Hidden Treasure

Hi,
Last week I was visiting Bratislava (Slovakia) and while I went into a tobacco shop to buy cigarettes for my wife, I found this 2 tins sitting there alone in the pipe tobacco section:

From their bar code I concur that they were produced in January 2017, so they are already aged for almost 3 years.
I've gotten into pipe smoking only last year, so I haven't had a chance to try out any of the famous Dunhill tobacco. I'm still not sure when and if I should open this tins

It's a tin of De Luxe Navy Rolls and one of Standard Mixture.

Standard Mixture, Three Year Matured, and Ready-Rubbed are all in stock on P&C, Ready-Rubbed is also on bnb tobacco and Hiland's, and Three Year Matured is also on Cup o' Joe's, just an fyi from a quick google search

Nice! If it were me, I'd pop th Standard Mixture now. The Navy Rolls would be good now as well, but since you've already got a 2 year head start, maybe hold off for a couple more years.

navy rolls is good. if you decide to smoke it real soon, keep in a jar for about two months and it will be a real treat. it will develop strong smell of dark fruit. amazing smoke. escudo is similar to me, but not exactly.

Supposedly Peterson is going to re-issue these blends -- I think both of these -- but you are lucky to have unearthed these originals. I have an unopened tin of Navy Rolls and two or three other Dunhill blends. I want to get to them while they still have full oomph. I tried Standard Mixture years ago but may not have been ready for it.

Yes I know all the major blends from Dunhill will be released under the Peterson blend. If my info is correct it will happen after the second half of September. I am already prepared to order them all (for testing purpose of course ), but I am still happy that I found this 2 originals.
I reckon Navy Rolls will get better and better as time passes, so I'll hold of on opening it. The Standard Mixture however may have its days numbered.

Congrats on the nice find! I have a tin of navy rolls that I'm sitting on as well. You'll enjoy that Standard Mixture!
I like dropping into B&Ms whenever I have some extra time. I've found some nice mixtures just like you did here.
