It's called BeeLasso. Basically it is an organic hemp twine with a bit of bees wax. It is meant for lighting bongs (water pipes) but thought you could use it for your pipe. Check it out here!

Basically what I would do is wrap my lighter with it, then pull off and light what I need when I need it.
It provides a more natural way of lighting your bowl, with less of a mess with matches, and ofcourse less chemicals than the sulphur or butane. You can YouTube videos on it, but you'll more likely find people using it for their bong.
Just thought I'd share a really ingenious idea! Hope you enjoy!

Similar to Beeline, although perhaps easier to deal with being on the Continent, rather than Hawaii...
Personally, while I did notice a positive change in flavour when compared to my Zippo, Bic, or even wooden matches, I found it frustrating to have to light something to light something to light my pipe...and even more frustrating if there was a gentle breeze present. I do know that several people here do love the little waxy hemp wicks though, and more power to them!

Johnbanther- from the videos I've been watching, it does not drip. It burns clean.
Schmitzbitz- I'm goof to figure something out haha. Probably wrap it around my lighter, or fashion somthing up.

Butane burns clean and tasteless. As far as the chemicals I sure and the hell am not worried about that while puffing on one of the most toxic yet satisfying leaves on earth.

N A Roan was running a study comparing matches vs lighters, including butane (not the torches). I don't think the study is finished but one thing I found interesting is that there is a difference in flame temperature. This would impact damage to the briar rim (or corncob) and affect the toasting of the tobaccos on the surface.

The problem with the matches or headless matches, is you still have garbage to get rid of. With the BeeLasso, there is nothing to throw out. Just blow out the flame, and the ash goes with it.

This item shows up here about every 6 months. I've never seen anyone use it. With all of the equipment that pipe smokers carry I don't think adding one more thing to the mix is going to gain any popularity. It may, however, be useful if you intend to shoot off fireworks on New Years Eve.

I had a sample sent out to me, while it is a cool concept ..way to much

of a PITA to light it, then ligh pipe, etc...and you gotta really

make sure the thing is out, not like a match, it will continue to

burn and if not careful finish by burn'in your house down too :)

Cool concept but I just got two giant boxes of matches at the dollar store for a buck. Almost a lifetime supply! I smoke out side on the patio and I have a little lantern with a candle in it. I light the candle and use that to relight matches while I smoke. I get about 3 relights off each match! Talk about cost effective :)
