During my recent trip to Edmonton for a wedding, I found a fantastic Pipe/Cigar shop located about 10 minutes from the West Edmonton Mall called Burlington On Whyte (Whyte street is also known as 82nd ave). The guys in there, Roy, Cody and Chris (they were there at the times I was there) were extremely helpful. My first purchase was a Lorenzetti Tempesta which they allowed me to fill no charge with some East India Blend, (nice aro). I also had a Neerup in my hands and when I left, I just couldn't get it off my mind for a day or so. I went back 2 days later and bought it, which I also filled with a Virginia Blend. I beleive the Neerup is called a Classic #34. The Neerups they have, are stamped Burlington on the bottom, exclusive for their shop from the maker. It was incredible to see how busy their shop was. They said they sold 1200 pipes last year alone. While I was in there, the door was swinging like an old western bar, so busy. What a difference from here in Ontario, where you might see a couple of pipes and 5 tins that have dust on them. The biggest reason I believe is because here in Ontario, you cannot promote tobacco of any kind with signs, etc..That store in Edmonton, had a nice sidewalk sign showing what they have. It had an old style of business, people walking by notice the sign and want to check out whats going on inside. I have attached some pics of the pipes and the store. If any of you are in the area ever, stop by there, you won't be dissapointed. Enjoy!

Ah yes I love that place. I was there in the summer when I was moving across Canada on my way to Yellowknife for Folk on the Rocks. I went there with my brother who lives there on the way back who cursed me for both turning him on to pipe smoking and showing him such a dynamite shop to drop his money in while I was there.

The name rang a bell so I went through my bookmarks... yep.. I ran across them when I was window shopping for some estates. They've got some nice Aston's in their estate section.

Wow. I've been in Edmonton a few times in the last few years, right downtown. I've considered stopping by this place but it's a fair walk and across the river. If I'd known it was that nice I would have made the effort. Thanks for posting, smokenscotch!
While we're on the topic of Alberta, when in downtown Calgary, it's worth stopping by Epicure Cigar and Pipe.

I moved away from Edmonton about 5 years ago and besides friends and families Burlington is the only thing I miss about the city. I smoked nothing but their house blends for years and I have never been disappointed by them! If you are ever there in December stop in to pick up their Santa Special blend which changes every year, sadly I've missed it for the last 2 years. And Simon, if you want to go to Whyte Ave from mid-downtown I would take the lrt to the University Hospital and walk from there.
