I agree with a lot of you guys as to what tastes like different tobaccos, especially latakia.

But I'm tellin ya, you gotta try prune juice for just a general tobacco flavor. Clearly, my sense of taste might be different than yours, and it isn't something you normally would tell people that you drink. There's that old "regularity" stigma involved with that discussion. 8O

I think it's a component flavoring of a lot of loose leaf tobaccos. Did the original poster ever chew tobaccos?

Laphroiag +1. In fact, I have English tobaccos to thank for finally embracing scotch at all. My friend tried for years by having me try wimpy blends to wean me into the scotch family. Fast forward to about year 2 of my pipe smoking career. He ordered an Ardbeg at a bar. I said, "make that two". He was like nooo. you'll hate it. I loved it. And Laphroiag is the bees knees.
All thanks to pipes!

The French actual made a drink from Perique Tobacco

I've been looking everywhere for this in my travels, since you can't ship liquor to Alaska, and none of the importers can order it. I'm headed to France this month, and this is on my "to find" list.

Sorry, I was just curious. I went looking for possible connections and learned about the chewing tobaccos. I can't say it made me any more likely to try prune juice.
