This is what I was really trying to say. I am glad my underlying vibe was not too subtle, and it probably helps that pipe smokers are eclair avoidant.
In all seriousness, I get what you mean about threads becoming saturated with posts before you can put in your $0.02. I often read through threads after responding to the OP and realize that my response was redundant. This is what I was really trying to say. Well, youre in a hobby that goes back hundreds of years. Any one smoking a pipe once the internet came to be probably shared their advise and opinions. Id say don't be discouraged but also don't hold the idea that your opinions are unique lol. Its just the nature if the hobby as old as ours.Just something I was musing...
Is there a point where a hobby forum like this reaches saturation with user numbers?
I have found recently that often when I go to give my 2 cents on a newly established thread, and then I see 4 or 5 pages of replies already, I can't usually bring myself to wade through them, and also figure that whatever 'unique' angle I had has probably already been covered.
Although I am essentially moaning about the site being a popular place, that is not actually my point...I am just wondering if you think there is a sweet spot for user numbers on a hobby forum? This is my only online social activity outside of emails so I have no other frame of reference...

Yersh that's mean. I tried a few of the d&r but they all smelled and tasted the same. A mix between shelled corn and malt.I second the D&R, as keeping lit can be a struggle at first, but these dry-ish affordable bags seem to burn really well, and have easy to pick out, uncomplicated flavor
May want to get your smeller and tongue checked out by a professional, they seem like they might need a tune-up. While all D&R blends are delivered with next to zero moisture in the bag/tin, there is a definite and clear difference between Ryback, with its DFK and pepper, versus Two Timer’s straight toasted burley, versus Rimboché with its musty Perique-forward notes.Yersh that's mean. oh great doctor, could you tell me why a blend that has alot of "oriental" not latakia, has the ability to completely lose all flavor whatsoever on me?May want to get your smeller and tongue checked out by a professional, they seem like they might need a tune-up. See my earlier reply.oh great doctor, could you tell me why a blend that has alot of "oriental" not latakia, has the ability to completely lose all flavor whatsoever on me?
or tell me where the "sour" notes in jocks mixture come from
Ngl, I have struggled with this dilemma myself as well.I have found recently that often when I go to give my 2 cents on a newly established thread, and then I see 4 or 5 pages of replies already, I can't usually bring myself to wade through them, and also figure that whatever 'unique' angle I had has probably already been covered.
You rang.....Christmas is around the corner. We'll have a new crop of newbs coming in soon, trying to keep their Captain Black lit.

Same for me. I think for many of us pipe smoking is a solitary activity, it's just not done much in public or in social situations. And for those newer to the activity, many probably don't have people they could ask about it. I'm happy to have the connection with people here. I only know one person irl who smokes a pipe. This is my only online social activity outside of emails so I have no other frame of reference...
Oriental flavors are extremely mild. Getting them overly heated will flash the flavor right away.could you tell me why a blend that has alot of "oriental" not latakia, has the ability to completely lose all flavor whatsoever on me?
The interaction between the Latakia and the Virginias.tell me where the "sour" notes in jocks mixture come from
Can’t tell without seeing if he’s sporting the Run DMC Adidas sweats. Is that @BROBS?
