I've been absent awhile because of a terrible cold combined with bronchitis, which I'm still recovering from, but some of you might remember I put up a post asking for favorite tobaccos, and strangely enough there were only a few responses, and none of them were the same! I guess that go to the point that we are a varied group which highly individualistic tastes in our choice of tinned tobaccos, and I just wanted to acknowledge that, as well as thank the gents who did go through the trouble of letting me know what their favorite brands were--many which I never heard of before! So thanks to all, and as soon as I get over this case of the Bubonic Plague, I hope to do another posting soon. In the meanwhile, have a Happy New Year!

Having just recovered from a nasty Upper Respiratory Infection myself, I can commiserate. Hope you feel better soon!
As for personal favorites, so far it's Black House for English/Balkan blends, Escudo for Va/Per blends, and Lane 1-Q for aromatics. For Codger Burleys, it's Sugar Barrel - I'm really hoping that the match that H&H came up with is close enough...

Sparrow,

Assuming that over time, people tend to smoke what they like and not what they don't like, why don't you just tally up the stats in the "What are you smoking" thread?
There are about 18,000 entries per year there, enough for you to get an accurate "forum favourite". Would be more accurate than basing it on 10 or so pm's.

sparrow, sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Despite flu shot, I've had some kind of slow-moving

bug. I've kept going, but had to nap a lot, and healing has been really slow. On to the question: Favorites

for 2014, definitely Tabac Manil Semois, not everyone's "thing," but this Belgium variant of burley smokes

like a complex blend for me, layers and dimensions. C&D Stratfordshire was a pleasant discovery late in the

year, surprisingly crisp with its several tobaccos in nice harmony. Nat Sherman's 536 is a refined and elegant

English that should be better know. And I have acquired a real taste for Cornell and Diehl burley blends such

as Billy Budd, Big 'n Burley, and Old Joe Krantz. Their Epiphany is a pleasing English blend too. Just a few of

my favorites. Good health and happy times for 2015 Mr. 'hawk.

Once I recover from the cold, I will try to collate the responses I received about favorite tobaccos. As for my favorites, I like simplicity: for my goto tobaccos, I smoke Trout Stream, and Redcake (the latter was send to me by a generous forum member who sent a bunch of non-aeros)' for aromatics, I am of course very found of Molto Dolce. There are a few others, but these are the basics.
