I love Boswells pipes, have a number of them. But I don't get either. But someone must, cause they do sell good.
The big Grizzly pipes do seem to have a highly focused realm of collectors.
It's quite fascinating actually.
A very interesting sociological essay could be penned on the topic.

,,,forget flakes, that's a plug smoker. Ha ha!!
And, in my experience the huge pipes cake much faster than the small pipes, because there is much more mass to the tobacco that is having the essential oils pushed out towards the sides.

Yeh, this one in specific may be a tad large for my tastes and not my favorite shape, but the few monster pipes that I have for smoking burleys, orientals, and mixes in, are some fantastic smokers for that odd time when I want big smoke, which isn't very often. But, it's nice to have when I want it. Ropes and very strong dark flakes are much more wonderful in flavor when I smoke them in huge bowls, IMO. It's counter-intuitive, but so much in this hobby is, IMO. YMMV

I don't understand a new car that costs 4.5million, but damn I'd love to have one of them. It's all relative.

A couple years ago, I made a pipe as a conversation piece out of mulberry. I used a 1.25" foster bit to drill the hole. I tried to smoke it, but found it impossible to light. Someone suggested a torch lighter, but I never tried.

I wonder if my wife would mind if I tiled my office with these.
