Its a pipe for the "occasional smoker", you fill it on Sunday and smoke all week. When people ask how many bowls you smoke in a week you can honestly say "just one!"
On a serious note, the pictures don't do them justice on how big one of Boswells Grizzly pipes are. I seen a few at their shops and they are huge pieces of briar.

I've actually been wondering how the mechanics of larger bowls affects smoking. If you have a 10 cubic inch chamber and you're trying to sip on it, it's going to take a minute just for the smoke to reach your mouth!

I do think it would make a decent pipe if you cut about 4" off the top, wide pots are still something I'm pursuing. The wide bowl is great for flavour but my mouth doesn't have that much endurance. I can fill up a tall bowl with carbon pellets (which is good for gurgle) but I still prefer the tobacco to be closer to the draft hole. At least to make it practical you could just pack the bottom inch and make it look like you're smoking a whole tin at once.

I guess for a heavy smoker it might be cool to actually go through an entire tin in one sitting. That'll show the Cigar smokers who's boss.

Chris Morgan makes very large 'Titan' pipes. Everyone I know that has one says they smoke great... and long!

It's a pipe you carry for when someone offers you a sample bowl of some exotic, hard to get tobacco like Stonehaven or Penzance, you pull it out of your backpack, load it up and thank them!
