I don't inhale...no, not quoting a certain ex-president...at least not pipe tobacco. Never smoked cigs (unless you count those 12 or so when I was a sophomore in HS...), so I never developed the "talent". I do, however, get a vitamin-N kick from time to time from the pipe. By drawing smoke into our mouths, and sometimes exhaling through the nose, we pick up nicotine through the mucous membranes in the mouth and nasal passages. So we don't need to inhale (which is not a pleasant experience with a pipe IMNHO) to get our nicotine.

Because you can't say, "put your big boy pants on for this blend"..(or girl).... althought I think that would do the same trick IMO.

This phrase could apply to VAs, which are high in sugar content and often burn hot. It takes experience not to puff too quickly and keep your mouth and pipe from getting burned.
True, of course. And, to my mind, the only way to learn how to smoke Virginias -- or flakes or high-nicotine blends -- is to smoke them. Nicotine tolerance can be heightened over time as you smoke (although that's not something I aspire to), but the only way to learn how to reap the most from a Virginia blend is to smoke a Virginia blend. The only way to know how to handle flakes -- or even a specific kind of flake (since they come in many thicknesses and textures) -- is to smoke those flakes.
