Hi folks, I want to purchase another estate pipe and have kind of narrowed it down (for the present moment) to these three. I realize everyone is different but I really like thick walls and a bent stem. Your thoughts and take are always illuminating. My concern with number 3 is that the Savinelli logo has been buffed over and I am wondering if that would affect it's intrinsic value if I ever decided to sell it.

Again, appreciate your thoughts

I agree with newbroom. The Cavicchi looks the best to me. The thick walls and birdseye on the rim make it a winner hands down to me. YMMV. :)

Newbroom and mayfair, thank you. That is the way my eye pulls me as well. And if I've discovered anything in my journey it is that aesthetics and eye appeal are very important.

I like the number one Savinelli in terms of appearance; it just seems better shaped. All three are pretty heavy, so essentially pipes smoked in hand, but I assume that's what you're looking for. The Cavicchi is probably the showpiece of the set.

Thanks folks.

I think the Cavicchi is about to find a new home.

Sable, The first Sav 00 with the plateau top is $495.00 with a 15% discount so $420.75

The second Sav 00 is $595.00 also with a 15% discount so $505.75 I hope sharing the price isn't breaking forum rules.

I bought a Cavicchi at the beginning of 2016 and it's a fantastic pipe. Mine's not as "pretty" as the one in the picture, it's a rusticated bent billiard with a saddle stem. But if that one is anything like my Cavicchi it will be the best smoking pipe you own. I'd go with that one!

Hands down, the Cavicchi.
I agree +100.

I firmly believe that anyone can charge whatever they want for their goods, that the buyer will decide if the price is right in the end.. With that being said, I think that both of those Savs are priced a bit "optimistic"...... I have seen similar pipes sell in the 225-350 range..... just my opinion, YMMV...... :puffy:

Thanks everyone for your comments. Like I said in my original post; I value the input from the folks on this forum.

I pulled the trigger on the Cavicchi.

I will post pictures once it has arrived.

The curvaceous bowl on the second Sav doesn't work at all. Looks like a flower vase. The Cav is beautiful -- a little rigid, but handsome.
