My father smoked Flying Dutchman for years. Does anyone know if it’s still in production anywhere? I am aware of the Sutliff Match.

I wondered the same thing a few years ago. What I discovered then - the Theodorus Niemeyer version of Flying Dutchman (the classic codger) is no longer in production. @JimInks might have more info on the brand and history.

The Sutliff Match is really good though.
It's better even though it's not that close a match. It doesn't bite like the original and has more flavor, too. Here's a little back story for you. Then-Sutliff master blender Carl McAllister blended it, and told then-Sutliff president Paul Creasy that this match was not an exact copy, but he thought it was better than the original. Paul told him "Let's go for better, and don't change it."

I wish this tobacco was still being made. When my wife and I first got married she was a general manager for Chick-fil-A. She was in charge of three stores and one was in a mall. Across the store was a pipe and cigar shop. When I would go to the mall to pick her up I would wonder to the tobacco shop and sniff the various jars of pipe tobaccos, Flying Dutchman smelled the best.
