Chasing Embers has answered the question for me.I wondered the same thing a few years ago. What I discovered then - the Theodorus Niemeyer version of Flying Dutchman (the classic codger) is no longer in production. @JimInks might have more info on the brand and history.
The Sutliff Match is really good though.Chasing Embers has answered the question for me.
It's better even though it's not that close a match. It doesn't bite like the original and has more flavor, too. Here's a little back story for you. Then-Sutliff master blender Carl McAllister blended it, and told then-Sutliff president Paul Creasy that this match was not an exact copy, but he thought it was better than the original. Paul told him "Let's go for better, and don't change it."The Sutliff Match is really good though.
I'll give it try, thanks. The Sutliff Match is really good though.
