They are different, condensate from the tobacco, and saliva generated in the mouth. No big deal.

I guess I’m a pretty dry smoker, I’ve never had to do this and I rarely need to use a pipe cleaner mid smoke but if I did have that problem, I think I would prefer a pipe cleaner. I’ll keep this in mind though if I ever have a pipe full of spit and I’m out of pipe cleaners. Hehe

I'm usually sitting inside on my 3 season porch. So, pipe cleaners are my preferred method of removing moisture from my pipes mid smoke.

Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend this method for the indoor pipe people.
