As people have said, a lot of aromatics are more about the room note than taste. Really slow smoking helps as does a shortish full bent style of pipe. Having the bowl closer to your nose helps to bring out the taste. I've found that the McLintock blends taste a lot like they smell. The Gawith Hoggarth aromatics vary a lot in taste compared to aroma but I find the Caribbean Coconut and Coffee Caramel to be the most like they smell. Also, when you get the chance you should try Peterson Nutty Cut. Hope to help.

MacB's Vanilla Cream is definitely one that tastes as it smells in the tin. Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice is an aro that, to me, tastes a lot like it smells. Good combo of tropical fruit, maple, vanilla, and rum which comes out well in the taste for me, which is why it's my favourite aromatic. Also 7 Seas line of aros from MacBaren carry through well in flavour. My favourite of that line is the Regular blend. The vanilla and chocolate casing carry over great into the smoke and intermingle and intertwine from time to time. Also I love that blend because at times the leaf flavour comes to the forefront for a bit. Great blend.

Does anyone know a tobacco that tastes like coffee--or maybe expresso?
Peterson's Holiday 2010 has a wonderful cookies & cream + espresso flavor AND aroma--one of the best aromatics ever. If you can find any, get it. Also try Vauen's Espressotobak, available at smokingpipes.com. Not stellar, but very good.

Well, I went to the store to get some of the PA Cherry Vanilla, but they were out. However they did have the standard Middleton Co. cherry which I heavily weighed getting but was afraid it would smoke like I was hoping. And then I saw that Paladin BC that you spoke of Lawrence, so I got that along with a pouch of CH(which I also have not tried). I'm gonna try the Paladin tonight.
