Haha! Sorry to trigger you, my friend!I smoked cigars for the better part of 20 years and Nightcap tastes absolutely nothing like a cigar. Nor does a good cigar taste sharp or vinegary. Maybe an El Producto or Dutch Masters from the drugstore, but I never smoked those turds. A good cigar tastes like a cigar. Double maduros taste smooth with a rich aroma, on down to double claros which taste harsh and smell rank.
If you'll reread my post, you'll see that I absolutely did not suggest Nightcap tasted anything like a cigar. Rather, I said it tasted what I had initially hoped a strong cigar might taste like.
It seems you're a bit offended on behalf of the cigars, and let me assure you--none was intended. Perhaps cigars don't taste vinegary to you--that's fine. I was looking for a close analogy. To say a cigar tastes like a cigar is not an analogy, but simply a tautology that doesn't help anyone. I have never smoked anything from a drugstore--only higher end cigars from my local tobacconist, and never the same one twice, so I did get run the gamut of what my local tobacconists offered. I don't claim to be a cigar expert, but tobacco certainly undergoes fermentation just like vinegar does. They didn't literally taste the same as vinegar, but that's the closest analogy I could find. I enjoyed more robust cigars--still do--but they were not what I expected.
I was merely stating that Nightcap had the deep, rich, smoky flavor that I had naively expected of a strong cigar.
I agree about the nicotine hit, kaboom. I initially thought I had a high nicotine tolerance, but I notice I always smoke after meals--not for any reason in particular except that it just seems like a nice, relaxing time to do so.
