Hello Folks,

First time poster, long time reader of the forum here.

Since I've fallen head first into this ( I still find amusing it's called) hobby, and after The Soverane Herbe - a history of tabacco, I knew I had to try growing this wonderful plant.

Well here's what 5 seedlings I saved and repotted looks like in the cool climate of Toronto, Canada.

Not sure what I'll do with these, just wanted to be around the plant as I enjoyed smoking and discovering new tobacco blends.

Not surprised the indigenous people considered this a sacred plant.

Nice to be here. Thanks for providing this resource.

Happy Fourth of July everyone,

Our plants seem to be struggling, not as tall as I might expect for this time of year and something is eating the leaves. I may just put them in the ground right now and give them room the grow. Could be a variety of factors - an earwig or grasshopper's lunch and too windy and cool even for Central Washington standards.

Any ideas? How do they look to you guys?

I know that these plants demand a lot of nutrients , maybe time to transplant and give them some food. I used a 4-4-4 fertilizer on mine. I’m no expert but think the yellow leaves signify lack of some specific nutrient.

Good evening!

I regret to inform all of you the crop has failed - but we will try again next year!

With most plants barely over eight inches, and many eaten by locusts, I will not harvest.

Granted, I started extremely late in the season. Too late.

And summer is mild (merciful for humans but not ideal for gardens). Lots of wind.

So, next year I'll try again.

We'll sprout earlier, lay tarps to avoid the weed jungle, and hopefully better weather for a better season.

More soon!
