First Snow

Got about an inch in Central KY last night. The snow wasn't bad, but there was a sheet of ice beneath it before salt trucks could get out. Pretty slick conditions for a few hours.

Just a light dusting here in Eastern OH. Back roads were a little slick in spots, but nothing crazy.

4-6" in Central Alabama. The leaves were still on the trees in the orchard, so I had to prune them to keep the ice and snow from breaking the trunk and limbs. I have a bridge across the access to the property that I had to sand. The ice was knocked off of the garden row covers. And, I broke open a tin of Blackeny's Best Latakia Flake with four years on it.

The Philly TV news talked dismissively about the storm being "only" in the I-95 corridor and the shore. Trouble was, that was the route we needed to take to go to the Northeast (aka Kaywoodie)/"Holiday" (ex-Christmas) Party/Slow Smoke event. Coming from Delaware and Chester County, then going over Philly down the PA Turnpike we could see a few flakes in the rear view mirror. The forecast projected that the snow would be done by nightfall, so we figured we would have clear roads by the time we started the 3 hour drive home after dinner and the event.
But the snow came inland more than expected and the Fishkill had roads slippery enough that a couple of folks had trouble getting up hills to the club. Going home, skidding down the driveway was no problem, but visibility was poor till we hit the NY/NJ line. Then the roads were fairly clear though wet. Certainly not the epic odyssey we had several years ago.

I did clean my little meer pipe and broke out some "My Blend" house blend from a local B&M.
