First live pipe smoker

Was at the mall food court today (which is a very rare event). At a large table of people visiting, an old gentleman pulls out a pipe and loads it from a leather pouch. A bit later he goes outside with his pipe, is gone for 15 minutes and returns. The pipe was a nice straight sandblast. Nice to see a pipe in public.

I know other pipe smokers exist because I read Forums. Except for a pipe show or the local pipe shop, a sighting is about as likely as finding an Ivory Bill woodpecker at the bird feeder, as in nonexistent.

People just don't smoke pipes in public. I guess it's too much grief if you run into an anti-tobacco activist.

I found a pipe smoker with his churchwarden lit near a mall in Houston. He mentioned a B&M pipe shop near by I hadn't heard of. I went, I saw, I bought a pipe to support the local business.

Here in my area or city, people who smoke pipe tobacco use it as rolling tobacco, i.e. they smoke it as a cigarette. Borkum Riff is a heavy tobacco for me, the room note is nice, but it's not a favorite at all, and I don't have a big collection either, I rarely use this tobacco. It has a pleasant smoke, but at the same time heavy, as it loses the real aroma of tobacco, due to this overwhelming aromatic sauciness. It reminds me of STG) - Skandinavik Mixture and Davidoff pipe tobacco. It is a battle tobacco, as I qualify these tobaccos.
