Thanks everyone! I didn't use anything too special for shaping, I removed a little bit of material with the bandsaw to begin with. After that it was a rasp and double cut file for the bulk of the work followed by hand sanding and then buffing. The wood has a few pits in it that I didn't bother filling, but other than that it has some nice grain and a good bit of birdseye across the front and one side. The first bowl smoked great, I'm looking forward to breaking it in!
