Just thought I would post a few pics of the stummel. Will add the completed pipe pics tomorrow.

First try at everything. Air hole is off. I know what I did wrong.

Hey great job! So it is not perfect, but is 27 steps further than what I have been able to accomplish. I can't get past the rough cut stage...

The contrasting finish is superb.

That rim might look 'better' with an inside bevel? The shank could use a trim.

From the pictures, the draft hole looks just fine.

2 cents from y'er ole buddy, mike.

Thanks folks for the comments.

Papigeguy, yes I am just hand turning the stem. All the drilling was done freehand, I don't have any tools at the moment.

Thanks Mike.

Great job! I do agree with Newbroom about the bevel in the rim and thinning out the shank. The finish is spot on.

Beautiful pipe and grain! I think you are being overly critical of yourself. The airhole doesn't look that bad. It hits the bottom of the bowl nicely.

Can't wait to see the finished pipe! I have professionally made pipes that the air holes are even more off than yours! Looks great!
