First Artisan pipe. Defective?

I agree wholeheartedly, the lowlife, scum sucking pig who dared to unleash that abomination on an unsuspecting public should be crucified, after his hands are chopped of so the horror that is that pipe will never be replicated.
Is that good? Did I miss anything?

Did you forget your pills JP? I think it's the orange ones on the weekend, right?
I think the point is not so much that the pipe is an unsmokeable abomination (it isn't) but that if a maker of pipes mis-represents or under-describes something like this, it's "not on" as the British would say. We all make mistakes. But some (most) of us either wouldn't sell that or would make absolutely certain that the customer knew about it.
If it's a Peterson and one of 450 pipes made on a given day, we send it back and it gets replaced and that's that. But any would-be artisan has to operate a little more carefully than that. In my opinion. And I'm often wrong.

OK, you guys made some very good points that convince me to raise my standards beyond the pragmatic.

Sloppy work, even if functional, shows a lack of pride, and a kind of disrespect for the customer.

The OP hasnt given any more details, but to me this doesn't seem like an "Artisan" pipe but more of a "Hand Made in a Factory" pipe. If a guy is making one pipe a day he is probably not going to sell this pipe unless its a second. This seems more like one guy in an assembly line that drills 100 stummels a day and was hoping no one would notice he F'd this one up pretty good.

If he paid $100 for it thats probably fine. If he paid $400 for, not so much.

before frying anyone we need more information. what does the OP consider 'Artisan' was it bought directly from the maker as new or commissioned work? was it bought as a second grade via eBay or some other outlet source. did the OP contact the seller/maker about replacement and got resistant so they came here? kinf of reminds me of the women at work who bad mouth the husbands/ex's I would like to hear the other side of the story.
