For $25 on eBay you can buy the best quality pipe pouch I’ve seen, and I’ve been buying pipe pouches for about fifty years. The brand is Firedog, they are made of real pebble grain leather, have a stainless steel magnetic closure for the tobacco pouch and hold a lighter, pipe tool, and two standard size pipes, and you can feel like a billionaire without eating windows and orphans for breakfast.

Hurry up, before the gubbermint do gooders put a big tariff on these or outlaw them.

I bought another one so I can have one in both vehicles ready to go.

The Girl With The Blue Velvet Band didn’t have a better pipe layout than a Firedog.:)

Which version of Windows are you eating? :)

Excuse the typo, you don’t have to be deaf to the wail of the widow and cries of the orphan to afford a Firedog, but they look like they cost a gazzilion dollars.

Sort of makes you want to light a Cuban cigar with a hundred dollar bill, level of luxury.

The leather used is an absolute copy of the best top grain Moroccan leather. Soft, supple, it even smells luxurious.

If it was actual Moroccan leather they’d brag about it.:)

I couldn’t ship these to China for $25, much less make one and ship it.

How Dey Do Dat?

Briar Lee:

O.k,, you've piqued my interest and curiosity to the point that I did a Web search for Firedog. Here is a link to the "About Us" page on their Website which presents an interesting story, although I cannot find any mention as to where their products are manufactured.

Please let us know how yours hold up over time.

I watched my grandmother write a book when I was five that made Bug Tussle famous.

And since then I’ve had all sympathy and have been rooting for ordinary people who create something totally out, of the ordinary.

The guy has a contract with factories in China. But by God he made the first one, and it’s a better pouch than I could invent. When you get the first one you’ll want more.

You can buy them straight from the inventor. He’s a wise man to not undercut his peddlers on eBay.

It’s been 45 years since my dear old Grandmother was lifted by the angels to cross over Jordan where Pa was jest a stand in’ on the tother side a waitin for her to cook him up a mess of squirrel gravy.

That first edition sold for two dollars in 1963. That would be like $20 today.

And there was a 95% markup, at least.

I still identify bootleg copies, which always made her happy, because it made people want the geniune.

To get more Ma Agee, you had to subscribe to The Index published at Hermitage.

Each week Ma reminisced about times gone by and all the adventures of her and Pa and their young’uns Sy Thomas and Saydee, and Saydee’s boy what lived a half mile South of Bug Tussle.

And they paid her a right smart amount to make The Index the highest paid circulation single press newspaper on the planet.:)

Firedog ain’t none too much of a good Christian name, but the copyright owner ought to do middlin’ well on the righteousness of the product, you know?

I’ve been using one every workday and more since about a week after I first picked up a pipe-going on three years now.
Currently on my second, after about a year and a half of daily use the zipper stopped zipping on the first.

This looks solid, right up my alley, and your write up made me chuckle. Will probably order one now. (Edit: just did, can't wait for this order)

“…and to my creditors who made it necessary.”

That’s very funny.
Made me chuckle out loud.

R J Reynolds, so long as the Beverley Hillbillies was on the air, would mail cartons of Winstons to Eric “Pa” Agee in the hopes I suppose that Ma would have Pa start smoking Winstons each week I her columns in The Index instead of his cob pipe with long green home grown tobaccer, what gave him such comfort in in a world chockablock full of misery and woe.

The actual Pa Agee had a college degree from Weaubleau Christian College and hadn’t worked up a sweat since he made his fortune out in the Pacific Northwest in three years as a logging engineer and returned home about 1904 and bought two thousand acres of prime farmland and rented it on shares.

Ma smoked the Winstons, but on the sly from her public and my mother (Saydee- Ella Mae) and her son (Sy Thomas-Jethro Bodine). Ma Agee would smoke a Missouri Meerschaum at book signings and promotional events. But privately she preferred Winstons.

Pa smoked Camels, and any other tobacco he wanted.

When she died unexpectedly my cousin Pammy and I beat our parents to her apartment and smoked up the evidence.

And Ma Agee knew every folk song and could play the piano and sing like a caroling angel.

She explained us all the lyrics and we memorized Girl With The Blue Velvet Band.

And many, many other ballads.

Her favorite:

Mine just came in yesterday. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but I am pleased by this. Makes it pocketable. It was laden with a heavy plastic smell right out of the package but it has dissipated over the last 20 hours or so. I loaded up my Missouri Meerschaum Legend and a few bowls worth of Early Morning Pipe, plus my accessories. The tobacco has overcome the weird smell in the bag, and the pipe's smokiness has overcome the pipe pouch. Overall, very very pleased.
