Finished the Cheapo Restore

Posted here a bit back that I bought a Barclay Rex pipe from Ebay and was a little tired of cheaping out.

The stem was completely loose and I got some great feedback. Fnord was kind enough to send me a nice sized chunk of beeswax that fixed the stem right up.

Learning to restore pipes has been fun and a learning experience.

So far I know I need a better buffer than the crappy Harbor Freight buffer. It serves it's purpose but it's time to move up.

I need to learn how to keep alcohol off of the outside of the pipe. I ended up losing some of the finish on the pipe. Red fingers is a bad sign.

My next PAD or TAD purchase is going to include a reamer... any suggestions to which works well?

I am going to move up to a better pipe to restore as I think I have enough pipes for a basic rotation and I'd like to start finally having a few nice pipes to dedicate to specific blends

Twang, get the Upshall, they are good pipes The old cajun

Probably any of the three would make a good pipe but as far as looks-shape etc I like the Upshall.

Thanks all.. Last bit of time on the Upshall auction. I really like that pipe and I hope it doesn't climb through the roof.

Just smoked my first bowl with the Barclay Rex. Smoked Mac Baren Virginia No. 1. Smoked nice and cool. I like this pipe nice thick walls. The stem is cheap but it will make a good pipe for the rotation.

i was in a bid for a sav. auto. earlier that was in worst shape it went for over 100
