I bet you did not like the aged tobacco. Open it for a couple of weeks, and I may change again as the aerobic process will take over again. 7.5 years is a long time to age an english blend, and that may not be your taste. If that does not work, seal the jar and try again in a year. The tobacco will not likely change, but your taste might.

For a long time I couldn’t stand aromatics, and smoked pretty much exclusively English blends. However, I’ve been smoking almost nothing but 1-Q for about two months and have enjoyed every second of it. It’s weird how things change, but I smoke what I like and I like what I smoke.

I smoke all day and I find that mixing 1-Q with various other tobaccos keeps things fresh with the pallet but allows me to smoke all day and not kill my tongue while I work. Its such a good all day blend or a base to play with.

Also, welcome aboard! You should totally make sure you hit up the Vegas Pipe Show in 2025 in October - a good number of us will be there.

Cheers brother, never let anyone snob you out of a good smoke lol. I have tins squirreled away of some of the most austere, snootiest blends around but if I were to be Shanghai'd onto a deserted island with a drum of only one currently produced blend it'd be my humble, beloved Lane TK-6, hands down

Thanks for all the welcome messages! I’m definitely not going to completely give up on the Nightcap, but I also tried a bowl of a new (less than 6 months old) Early Morning Pipe match and it had the same flavor - just not as strong. I’m chocking it up to something weird going on with me and am assuming it’ll go away soon!

Unfortunately that bulk Sutliff Balkan S original mix match I found turned out to be a dud - the retailer canceled my order a couple days later stating they didn’t have the product in stock. I’ve still got Majestic English coming my way, but man am I sad about the BSOSM. I’m sure I’ll find something else that I enjoy as much. I understand Whiteknight is the same thing (but potentially higher quality leaf?), but at $16+/tin I can’t afford to stock up.

Life will go on!
